Winter wedding

Before we wrap up our reminiscing over some our favorite winter wonderland invitations, we wanted to share just one more. Just because you are getting married in the winter doesn't mean that your invitations have to be super wintery! We chose to share this invitation suite because it embodies the classic black tie, traditional aesthetic that would be perfect for any time of the year. Isn't this just classic? This invitation suite is very versatile. Depending on the ink color and fonts, this invitation can be perfect for any wedding or any season. Personally, I think the satin with the rhinestone buckle over lace and the silver mount gives that extra flair for a black-tie winter wedding.

We hope that you enjoyed! We also wanted to announce that we are going to be changing our blog starting next week. While we will still show off the fun and creative invitation suites we get to do for our brides and for styled shoots, we want our blog to be a resource to you. Check back in next Tuesday to find out our opinion of the perfect wedding stationary timeline!

the most wonderful time of the year

It is finally one of our most favorite times of the year. There is nothing like getting cozy near the Christmas tree with a (basic) Peppermint Mocha to edit invitation suites! To kick off the season, we chose to feature this adorable winter wonderland invitation suite from last year! View More: http://jenandashley.pass.us/paperdollsshoot

The use of the snowflakes and color provides the perfect look to capture that winter wonderland feel. The suite is printed on a white metallic card stock which adds that pop of shimmer when your guests open it up! The RSVP card uses playful wording, which adds some humor to the suite. The suite is wrapped with a soft blue band and sealed with a glitter snowflake!  You can never go wrong with adding some glitter ;)  Finally, the silver envelopes adds the last little touch.

happy thansgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! As we head into the one day where no one will judge us for over-eating and having our bellies hang over our jeans, we wanted to share our final segment of what we are thankful for. As we have said countless times, we are so appreciative of the many wonderful vendors that we have met in this business. When we are not working with brides, we absolutely love working with other individuals in the wedding industry to create styled shoots. These are a great way for us local vendors to collaborate on an event and to showcase our talent in hopes of getting published into wedding blogs, magazines, etc.  I am always honored when a fellow "friend-or" (friends that are vendors) asks us to be a part of their beautiful "vision". I rarely will turn down the opportunity(sometimes time just doesn't permit :( ), because it really is just that, a wonderful opportunity to get your name out there in such a fun way. So many of these loyal vendors will come back to us for several shoots, and its amazing to see their ideas unfold right in front of the camera.  I am oh so thankful for all of our local vendors and admire how we are always helping each other, be it through referrals or just shooting ideas back and forth. So in order to say thank you to our wonderful wedding industry friends, we chose to share this suite that we completed last year for a stylized shoot designed by As You Wish, and photographed at The Hermitage Museum and Gardens by Tara Liebeck Photography.

We loved created this bohemian styled invitation suite, complete with an ikat pattern in bright boho colors, finished off with hemp twine and a pennant-style tag.

In order to highlight the beautiful "naked" cake designed by Patti Cakes, Inc,  we created this cake sign that complements the invitation suite and the overall aesthetic of the styled shoot.

And one more close-up of the invitation for ya on this gloomy Tuesday. Check out all of the images from the shoot at http://asyouwishva.com/portfolio-items/bohemian-romance/.

We hope you enjoyed! Thank you so much to all of our dear friends in this industry! We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving! xoxoxo

I am thankful for...

As I continue to count my many blessings this month, I particularly wanted to give light to all of my wonderful brides who become friends. There are so many of you that it makes it tough to pick just one! But THIS girl has recently come to me for a few other things, and she is just the sweetest soul, so I had to share her invitation suite. Jessica and Ryan were married last year at The Westin Town Center in Virginia Beach.  When Jessica came to me, she wanted a vintage, fall invitation suite and really wanted it to stand out. She was all about introducing textures, so we decided to punch the corners of all pieces in the suite to add lots of it :)  The suite was tied with jute twine and a vintage luggage-tag to finish it up.  Ya'll know how much I love kraft, so we used kraft envelopes to add to the vintage feel. The simplistic sketch of leaves across the top added just the right touch of fall to the entire suite.

Since getting married, Jessica has come back to me for her hubby's 1 year anniversary gift (paperrrrr), and a friends baby shower invitations!  We love clients that remember to come back to us for all of their life events :)

We hope you enjoyed! Check back next week for our final installment of what we are thankful for. As always, we would love to be part of your big day; if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!

I'm Thankful for Our Fun, Creative Brides.

We absolutely love each and every one of our brides! Each bride is different, and we love having the opportunity to work with each couple to create the perfect invitation suite for their big day. Today we chose to share one of our most creative invitation suites. It not only highlights the creativity of the couple but also uses one of our favorite printing methods--letterpress. View More: http://jenandashley.pass.us/paperdollsshoot

Letterpress is a method of printing in which the ink is pressed into the page. The paper tends to be made from cotton and has a lot of texture. The particular letterpress that was used for this was a salty letterpress which gave a little variation in texture to the orange background.

This couple used a 'bee' theme for their wedding invitation, which worked perfectly with the honeycomb pattern on the invitation. My favorite part of the invitation suite is the swirling bumblebee on the RSVP card! The invitation suite was wrapped with a Jute string, a bumblebee tag and a piece of burlap with the couples wedding date on Kraft paper.

Here are a few more pictures of the invitation suite. Enjoy!
